Refurbishment of Flats in Ealing Council
Project Brief
To provide Listed Building Consent and Building Regulations for the refurbishment of three studio flats in central London. The building concerned is a Grade II Listed end-terrace building with a mixed use in a conservation area. The client’s objective was to re-arrange the existing accommodation to render it more suitable for modern day living.Project Outcome
In accepting the initial brief, Get Planning and Architecture conducted thorough research into the property. This identified the building as being listed which was not known by the client. Listed Buildings represent historic value and are highly protected by planners and therefore create a challenge for new developments. However, as a result of the high level of experience of Get Planning and Architecture, the client’s requirements were met in the design provided whilst ensuring no parts of the historic fabric were removed or altered. Additionally, a rigorous planning application including Design, Access & Heritage Statement were also submitted to the council. Get Planning and Architecture subsequently monitored the application and as a result met with the case officer for a site visit which enabled timely amendments to be negotiated.Following approved Listed Building Consent for the project, Get Planning and Architecture prepared the drawings for Building Regulations in order to finalise and lodge the application to Building Control. This resulted in a written confirmation of compliance.
