Heritage statement

If you are applying for planning consent for a listed building or property in a conservation area, or doing so on behalf of a client, then your application will need to include a Heritage Statement.

Such statements detail how a development will not detract from the historic or favourable character and appearance of a property, with relation to the relevant local, national and regional planning policies.

Get Planning and Architecture has considerable experience in preparing these statements for both clients and other agents.

Our typical package includes:

  • Accept brief and review client requirements
  • Briefing Questionnaire completed with client
  • Analysis of detailed photographic survey of aspects of heritage assets at the site inside and/or outside where relevant (from existing application)
  • Planning Consultant to prepare a statement that includes the following:
A description of the heritage asset and its setting
    An assessment of significance
An explanation of the design concept for the proposed development
Description of the impact of the proposed development
  • Submit statement to client for approval
  • Finalise it in accordance with their comments
